Jo Ann Smyth, 90, beloved and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Friday, April 28, at her home in Glen Rose.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the Cross of Christ Anglican Church, 1100 Hereford St., in Glen Rose.
Jo Ann was born on July 12, 1932, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Roy and Birdye Childress. She was a 1949 graduate of Wichita Falls High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the OU where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Jo Ann married Bradley Smyth on November 21, 1959, and together had one daughter, Carolyn. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Jo Ann was a member of the Somervell Historical Foundation and helped in the restoration of the Barnard Mill. She enjoyed giving to charities and working in her flower garden. She was a long-time member of the Cross of Christ Anglican Church in Glen Rose. Jo Ann was a person who will be remembered for her deep faith and for the love she had for her family.
Jo Ann is survived by her daughter, Carolyn and husband Lee Ellis; her granddaughter, Sarah and husband Hunter Williams; her sister, Nancy and husband Mack Nichols; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley Smyth in 2016.
Jo Ann’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose.
