Joe “Little Joe” Gomez-Vara, Jr., 80, passed away May 27, 2021, in Glen Rose, Texas. He will lie in state on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, from 1pm to 8pm and receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose, Texas. A service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose, Texas. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs, Texas.

Joe was born June 2, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas to Joe Vara Sr. and Maria Gomez.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Maria Vara; brothers: Fred Vara, Bonifacio Vara, Willie Vara, Arturo Vara, Johnny Vara, Jose Raul Vara; sister: Adela Lydia Garcia.

Joe is survived by his wife: Lola Ray; children: Patricia Vara and James Vara; sisters: Floydena Garcia, Dalores Garcia, Marie Vara, Sandy Garza, Yolanda Vara; brothers: Julian Vara and Larry Vara.
