GRANBURY — John Grier Little Jr. passed away in Granbury on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at the age of 74 after an extended illness.
Memorial service: A very casual memorial service for family and friends celebrating John’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. John donated his body to the University of Texas Medical School for research.
John was born March 20, 1938, in Andrews and had lived on the family farm in Bosque and Somervell counties for the past 20 years after retiring from the aviation industry as a numerical programmer. After playing in the Red Raider band and obtaining his degree in business from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, John entered the Navy and served on the USS Saratoga. John was an accomplished musician and spent his spare time playing in local country-western bands for a number of years.
John was preceded in death by his father and adopted mother, Dr. John G. and Dorothy Little of Granbury; and brother-in-law, Russell Wayne Pruitt of Granbury. John’s mother, Margaret Nichols, passed away when John was 10 months old in Andrews.
Survivors: Sister, Sue Pruitt of Granbury; sister, Sherry and husband, Robert J. Walker, of The Woodlands; niece and nephew, Kaitlyn and Austin Walker of The Woodlands; and cousins, Jane and husband, Gerald Creasy, of Conroe, Jim Bill Little and wife, Nancy, of Big Spring, Jack Little and wife, Gayle, of Austin, and Larry Walden and wife, Debra, and Terry Walden and wife, Linda, all of St. Francisville, La.
