Kevin Wayne Bagby, age 49, passed away peacefully in his home from complications of diabetes on February 1, 2018. He was born on June 7, 1968 to Kyle and Ruth Bagby, who were both educators in the Granbury I.S.D. Kevin and his sister Amy both grew up in Granbury as “teachers’ kids” and were loved and cared for by the many parents and young people involved in their father’s band program, long before becoming students in the Granbury schools.
Kevin inherited a fair share of his parents’ musical talents, and during his teenaged years blossomed into an award-winning trumpet player for the Granbury High School band. It was during those years that Kevin began sharing his musical gifts as a guest soloist for special music in several local area churches, including the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. He graduated from Granbury High School and went on to major in music at Tarleton State University, Abilene Christian University, and North Texas State University. During those years he also began to develop an interest in computers and technical support services. It was this that later became his livelihood. He returned to Granbury in 2008 and worked as the manager of the Historic Nutt House Hotel until 2010.
Kevin suffered from ill-health for the last several years, but still enjoyed working on computers and playing his music. He was a loving father to his two daughters, Cameron and Caitlin; a loving son to his mom, Ruth, and a faithful friend- always ready to give advice or help with a computer issue or to share his latest musical or technical interest. He joined his mother in becoming a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Kevin is survived by his two daughters, Cameron Elizabeth Bagby and Caitlin Rebekah Bagby; their mother, Trisha Neighbors Bagby; his mother, Ruth S. Bagby; his sister, Amy Bagby Birdett; brother-in-law, Darrell Birdett; nephews Nick Birdett and Andrew Birdett; his uncle, Bill Shelby; and many other extended family members and friends, including Paul Clark of Granbury, Duncan McMahan of Granbury, Melinda Ray of Granbury, Debbie Geye, Pat Butera, Michael Butera, Janice Butera, Gia Butera, Frank and Patsy Hobdnak, Heath and Denise Hobdnak, Billy and Mendy Neighbors, Kerry and Katrina Shankles, Kaleb and Kyler Shankles, Monte, Milton and Kim Murphy, and Tony and Maria Sledge. He was preceded in death by his father Kyle W. Bagby, who passed away in 1996.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, at 2016 Acton Hwy, Granbury, Texas; the Reverend Dr. Suzi Robertson officiating. Reception and visitation will follow immediately in the Church Parrish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Episcopal Community Trust of Granbury, Texas or to the Tolar High School Band Boosters.
