Marion Charles Blackwell, formerly of Colleyville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 2, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 9, at Northwest Church of Christ in Lake Worth. Officiating will be Robert Dodson and Larry Keele. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Biggers Funeral Home.
Charles would be honored if memorials would be made to the Northwest Church of Christ building fund.
Charles was born November 20, 1930, in Edinburg. He graduated from the University of Texas. His education at the university was interrupted by a tour of duty in the U.S. Army where he served in a MASH unit in the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to the University of Texas to complete his degree in pharmacy in 1957. His first pharmacist position brought him to Tulia, where he met Marietta Jobe. They shared 53 wonderful years of marriage that brought them one son.
Charles enjoyed the many trips with his family and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He took pride working in his garden, and he loved watching his Longhorns play!
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 53 years, Marietta; son, Jeffery Brian and wife, Lisa Rena; grandson, Justin Aron; granddaughters, Maci Taylor, Jaiden Briane and Kalee Elizabeth; great-grandson, Rylan Colt; and many extended family members and friends.
