Mary Alice Huddle, 75, passed away in her sleep on Monday April 17, 2023 while in the loving care of family in Keller, Texas. She was born on April 4, 1948 as the youngest of nine children to George and Lucy Hulin Hughes in Shallotte, North Carolina.
Services will be at 1pm, Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas. Burial following at Holly Hills Memorial Park.
Mary grew up on the North Carolina coast and spent much of her time visiting the beaches when not working on her family’s farm or in one of the other family owned businesses. She moved to Granbury, Texas with her husband and two young daughters in the seventies.
She worked at Wal-Mart for over 30 years as a sales associate, helping many of her Granbury neighbors and making many friends. She loved camping and fishing, riding with friends on their motorcycles, crafting and gardening. She was a big Willie Nelson fan as well as enjoyed old time gospels music. She loved reading to her granddaughters who she adored. Especially their favorite children’s book Ferdinand the Bull, which she read countless times. She will be missed by family and friends.
Mary was proceeded in death by, husband Walter Huddle, siblings Betty Ross, Albert Hughes, Lily Carlisle, James Hughes, Odell Hughes, and Marshall Hughes.
Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Tammy Lass and husband Clint; granddaughters Taylor and Paige Lass; daughter Penny Murry and husband Luther, siblings Marie Somersett and Howard Hughes.
