Michael D. Meyers, age 58, of North Richland Hills, Texas, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 20, 2020.
Mike was born to the late Regis and Josephine Meyers in Texas City, Texas, on December 7, 1961. Mike attended school in Texas City and then went to work as musician playing lead guitar in a variety of local bands in the Texas City area. Mike then toured and played in many venues across the United States and Canada before settling in the Ft Worth, Texas, area in the late 1980s.
Mike was a self-taught guitar maestro. After getting his first guitar in the early 1970s, he would play record albums, learning the songs by ear as he mastered the guitar parts of countless rock songs of the era. Mike eventually joined as a founding member of the popular regional band Incognito in the Ft Worth area in 1989. Mike was extremely popular with fans in the Metroplex, and he was lauded as one of the best around by fans and music professionals.
His playing resonated with many friends and fans, who memorialized Mike with kind words such as:

“His talent was beyond mesmerizing. In my opinion, he was the greatest rock-n-roll shredder in DFW.”

Mike retired from Incognito in 2017. During retirement, Mike enjoyed relaxing around the house, spending time with family, and strumming his electric acoustic guitar to keep his hands limber. Mike is survived by his older brother Clay Meyers and his wife Pauline, of Granbury, along with numerous family in-laws and cousins across the country.
Mike requested a private family service, and he will be inurned at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas, at a future date. The family wishes to thank all of those who have expressed kind words, remembrances, and prayers for Mike.
