Velma Sue Kyle Gilliam, 94, passed away April 6, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas. Velma was born April 14, 1928 in Donley County, Texas to Chalmer Guy Kyle and Isabel Osborne Kyle. Velma married Schueler DeWitt Gilliam in 1946 in Amarillo, Texas. She loved reading, cooking, and crocheting. She worked as a nurse until she retired at 78 years old. She was a member of the Early Bird Sunday School Class at Southcliff Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Velma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband: SD Gilliam; sons: John and Dale Gilliam; 3 sisters; 4 brothers.
Velma is survived by her son: Jim Gilliam and wife Darby; daughters: Peggy Perkins and husband Jerry, Ann Richmond and husband Wayne; grandchildren: Michael Gilliam, Josh Gilliam, Gabe Gilliam, Jordan Gilliam, John Perkins, Geoffrey Perkins, Jeremy Perkins, and their families; 19 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to missions at Southcliff Baptist Church or Joni and Friends Ministries.
