LIPAN — Verna Mae Wartes, 92, passed away on December 22, 2014 in Weatherford. Service: 2:00 Saturday, December 27, 2014, First Baptist Church, Lipan. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery, Lipan. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, December 26, 2014, Wiley Chapel, Lipan.
Verna Mae Wartes was born February 19, 1922 in Idalou, Texas to Jesse Ranchman Rush and Rachel Elizabeth Cope Rush. She married Andrew Jackson Wartes, Nov. 8, 1947, in Lubbock, Texas and he preceded her in death Oct. 9, 2014. She loved her family and was a great mother. She was an excellent cook, loved to entertain, Verna was a seamstress and made clothing for her family. She had a great sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Mark Wartes and son-in-law, Royce Wright.
Survivors: Children and spouses, Charlotte and Dale Cloteaux of Reston, Va., Andy and Trina Wartes of Lipan, Rick and Shana Wartes of Lipan, Melody and Ed Ledbetter of Stephenville, Tammy Turner of Mineral Wells, Kim Wright of Millsap; adopted daughter, Dawn and Frank Hernandez of Mineral Wells; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
