Jerry Charles Starnes, 75, of Lake Worth, TX passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018.
Service: 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018 in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Visitation: 2-3 p.m. prior to the service. Interment: 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Jerry was born March 28, 1942 in Alpine, Texas. He attended Northside High School during which, he earned his Order of the Arrow and Eagle Scout. Jerry and Judy were married November 16, 1963. Jerry graduated from NTSU with his BBA in 1965 and later received his Teaching Certificate from Texas Wesleyan University. He served with the US Army in Vietnam from 1966-1968 and was awarded several medals, including the Bronze Star “Garryowen.” He was an educator at North Elementary in White Settlement ISD for17 years and served on the Lake Worth ISD School Board. Jerry was also a member of the American Legion and the White Settlement Retired Teachers’ Association. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family at his lake house on Cedar Creek Lake.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Evelyn Starnes.
MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association or MD Anderson.
SURVIVORS: Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Judy, of 54 years; his daughter, Amy Reader and husband, Jonathan; his son, John Starnes and wife, Erika; grandchildren Parker & wife, Rebecca, Jack Ryan, Kaitlin, and Joshua; great-grandbaby due in September; sister, Carolyn Sue and husband, Vaugh Johns; numerous nieces & nephews; and Miss Kitty.
