Adrian Jack Carlile

Adrian Jack Carlile “Poppy”, husband, father, brother, uncle, poppy, and devout fisherman of Azle, Texas went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 3, 2020.

Service: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2020.

Visitation:  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial: Ash Creek Cemetery, Azle.

He was born on May 15, 1948 to Elmer and Sybil Carlile in Fort Worth.

He was an Army Veteran where he proudly and heroically served as a Sergeant in the 101^st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army and Vietnam War.  During his service he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his bravery and dedication to his country.  He never spoke of the circumstances leading to his military honors but simply stated, “Let’s just say I was a good guy.”  All that knew him would agree, there’s no truer statement.

After his military service, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Gail Jones of Azle, on January 9, 1970.  They went on to have four sons, Christopher, Matthew, Jonathan and Timothy.

Jack and his beloved wife celebrated 50 years of marriage this past January.

Jack worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Azle for 36 years, retiring in January 2011.  He loved spending time with his family and traveling with family, friends and his sweetheart Carolyn.  One of his favorite past times was fishing with his boys where he taught them everything he knew because they wanted to be the best, just like him.  When he wasn’t on the lake or spending time with family, he enjoyed cruising around town in his Corvette Stingray with his beautiful wife.  Jack was a natural at making a person feel special just with a friendly smile and a few kind words.  Family liked to joke that he was always “running for Mayor” because he never met a stranger and that it often could take 45 minutes to leave a restaurant because he was “fishing” for votes.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Sybil Carlile; sisters, Peggy Allison and Georgie Walker, and brother, Dale Carlile.

Survivors: Jack is survived by his wife, Carolyn Carlile; four sons and their wives, Chris and Becky Carlile of Stephenville, Matt and Kim Carlile of Fort Worth, Jon and Lisa Carlile of Fort Worth, and Tim and Tasha Carlile of Decatur; brothers, Jerry Carlile and wife, Michelle, Ron Carlile and wife, Marguerite, Don Jones and wife, Valerie; sisters, Terry Carlile, Linda Cox and husband, Steve; niece, Amanda Bristow and husband, Robert; nephews, Dan Jones, Jason Allison and wife, Shae; eleven grandchildren, Baylee, Za’Riyah, Zayden, Cory, Fish, Sarah, Peyton, Amanda, Chasity, Ashlyn and Carter; five great-grandchildren, Addy, Ellie, Avery, Emery and Haygen; additional nieces and nephews, as well as extended family.
