Alton Lockett

Granbury, Texas – On the evening of Friday, August, 23, our loving Lord and Father lovingly embraced His son Alton Lockett and took him home. Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 27 at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Granbury Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday. Alton was born on March 17, 1936 in Lamesa, Texas to Wesley and Geneva Lockett. He graduated from Empire High School where he excelled in academics, football and baseball. He met Genell, his lifelong love in 1955 and they were married just two years later. They soon had a daughter, Vickie and son, Dana, eventually settling in Granbury, Texas. He enjoyed his farming life with his brother and best friend, Lyndell and his wife Helen in Granbury. His sons-in-law, Russell Robert and Maury Edwards, his grandsons, Brandon, Brent and Marshall were joyful additions to his life. Alton was a very hard working son, father and husband. He took great pride in everything he did and in all relationships he fostered. He thoughtfully practiced the long term value and sense of life while loving the land, his friends and above all, his family. While we will miss him terribly, we know he is in the loving hands of his and our, Lord and God where he will be eternally happy.
