Alva “Don” Floyd, 84, of Granbury passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020. The family has scheduled a private memorial service in his honor.
Don was born and raised in Ozark, Arkansas, and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed a 29-year engineering career at LTV/Vought in Grand Prairie with roles including Engineering Project Manager – Change Board on the B-2 Program.
Don married Barbara June Helm, June 30, 1956. The family, including daughter Karen, loved driving Model “A” Fords on trips with friends in the D/FW Model “A” clubs. Barbara passed in 1980 after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.
On November 25, 1981, Don married Janet Neuman in Arlington, Texas where they attended The First United Methodist Church. They were fortunate to retire early and pursue the exciting new venture of running antique businesses in the Hot Springs, Arkansas area and Granbury, Texas.
An exceptional artist, Don painted in oil and acrylic watercolor. He especially enjoyed spending time in his workshop restoring antique electric fans.
Don was preceded in death by his parents: Robbie Avo and Alva C. Floyd.
He is survived by his wife: Janet Floyd, daughters: Karen Floyd, Nan Akin and Paula Draughn, and grandchildren: Allie Akin, Brooks Akin, and Hayden Draughn.
Family has scheduled a private service.
