Archie Carl Haddock, 73, of Springtown, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Fort Worth. Service: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Visitation: 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2017 at Biggers Funeral Home. Private burial will follow in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to Alzheimer Association (alz.org), Wreaths Across America (wreathsacrossamerica.org) or a charity of your choice.
Carl was a Fort Worth native born on May 22, 1944 to the late A C and Lula (Bielss) Haddock. He grew up in Haltom City and graduated with the class of ’62 from Carter Riverside. He continued his education at Ranger Junior College for two years. In 1964, he was drafted by the New York Mets, however was drafted in 1966 and served four years on the USS Kitty Hawk.
On August 3, 1985, he married Sheri Gail Payne, a coworker from Lennox Industries. They made their home in Springtown, TX where Carl lived until his death. After retiring, Carl spent several years as a substitute teacher for Springtown ISD where he was known as “Pappy”.
Anyone that knew Carl knew of his love for his family, friends and of sports. He taught daughter, Ashley to ice skate as a little girl and son Andrew all he could about his love for baseball. He even built their own ‘Field of Dreams’ on his property for the kids to use.
Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Gayle Brown.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Sheri; daughter, Ashley Pierpoint and husband, Brandon; son, Andrew Haddock and wife, Miranda; grandchildren, Addalee and Meyer Haddock, and Payton Pierpoint; mother-in-law, Gail Wilson; father-in-law, Bob Payne; niece, Sherri Drewes; and great nieces, Katie and Chloe Drewes.
