Ardyce V. Pfanstiel passed away peacefully at Granbury Villa Nursing Center on January 10, 2020. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Anglican Episcopal Church, 3600 Fall Creek Hwy, Acton, Texas. Ardyce had a great love for her pets. In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made on her behalf to her church or Friends for Animals, 2885 Fall Creek Hwy, Acton, Texas 76049.
Ardyce was born in New Braunfels, Texas on April 20, 1920 to parents Otto and Clara Pfanstiel. After graduating from Trinity University of San Antonio with a Business Degree, she worked in newspaper and radio in San Antonio, Corpus Christi and New York. She finally settled into a 25 year career with the Federal Government as a Recreational Specialist at Fort Sam Houston Army facility in San Antonio.
Ardyce moved to Granbury following her retirement and believed in supporting her community by being an active volunteer in various community affairs; Granbury Opera House, Ambassadors Club, Chamber of Commerce, her church, Good Shepherd Anglican Episcopal Church and her very favorite, The Hummers Walking Club of which Ardyce was one of the founding members and served as the club’s first president. Although not able to participate in her later years, she would always say “the mind and the spirit is willing to walk, but the body says no.” She loved to think of her hale and hearty walking group as “Sole Mates” whose motto was fun, fitness and fellowship and who enjoyed the warmth of friendship.
Ardyce was a long time member of Good Shepherd Anglican Episcopal Church of Acton, Texas and is remembered by many friends as a special individual. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Clara Pfanstiel, sister, Viola Wetzel and cousin Helen Winters.
