RAINBOW — Arley Wayne Carter, 80, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 in Glen Rose. Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rainbow Baptist Church. Burial: Squaw Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose.
Arley was born Jan. 16, 1932 in Kaufman to Arthur and Ethel Lake Carter. He married Marsha Shackelford on April 6, 1979 in Houston. He received a Bachelor and Master’s degree from SMU and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1953 during the Korean War. He was a electrical engineer with General Electric and NASA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, A.J. Carter and a sister, Imogene Carter.
Survivors: Wife, Marsha Carter of Rainbow; daughters and husbands, Jennifer and Ron Huggard of Irving, Catherine and Steve Shafranek of Allen and Susan and Don Slocomb of Denton; step-son, Erik Walla of Fort Worth; grandchildren, J.T. Todaro, Jr., Courtney Carter, Olivia Todaro, Melanie Shafranek, Drew Shafranek, Erin Shafranek, Ben Slocomb, Megan Walla and Jesse Walla; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
