With profound sadness we announce the passing of Barbara Kay Storey on Monday January 13, 2020 due to a blood clot in her lung. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family at the age of 84.
Born in Ames, Iowa, Barbara went to nursing school at Texas Tech in Lubbock Texas where she met Billy Mack Storey. Bill joined the army, and after he finished his basic training, they were married in 1958. Together they traveled the world for more than twenty years, living in many places including Hawaii, San Francisco, Colorado, Germany and Texas.
Along the way they raised a family of three girls, made a multitude of life long friends and had many adventures.
Barbara was a creative soul, who loved music, art, cooking, dancing and theater. She was the best listener, a friend to all, and everyone was welcome in her home and at her table. In return she was loved by everyone, and had deep friendships. She also had a long career as nurse, caring for patients and their families.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 62 years, Billy Mack Storey, their daughters Lisa Starkweather, Terri Storey-Gore, Robin Rios, their granddaughters Katie Roy, Hannah and Haley Gore, and Christina Moreno, her sister Sherri Gilchrist, her niece and nephew Tammi and Taber Gilchrist.
