Funeral service for Beatrice Robertson, 95, of Granbury, Texas were 10 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2012 at Martin’s Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury. A graveside service was at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, OK.
Beatrice was born Oct. 13, 1916 to Stanley and Lillie Jane Skaggs. She was the eldest of four. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Elgin; sisters, Esther Ruth and Mattha; her husband, Bill Robertson; sons, Harold Robertson and Bob Robertson; and granddaughter, Kim Robertson Posey.
She passed away Feb. 8, 2012 in Granbury where she lived since 1981 upon her retirement from the Oklahoma Baptist Home for Children in Oklahoma City.
During the depression, Beatrice, age 11 years, and her sisters, Mattha and Esther Ruth were sent from Wagoner to live at the Oklahoma Baptist Orphans Home in Oklahoma City.
While growing up in the children’s home, Beatrice became a part of the home’s touring program, visiting and performing at Baptist churches throughout the state. She said that by the time she graduated from high school, she had visited every church in Oklahoma at least once. On one of those trips Beatrice married Bill Robertson in March, 1935 in Seminole, Okla. They were the parents of Robert Eugene (Bob), James Edward (Jim), Harold William (Buff) and Alice Jane Robertson.
She is survived by one son, Jim Robertson and wife Doris of Granbury, TX; daughter, Alice Jane Hyden and husband Jerry of Granbury, TX; daughters-in-law, Patti Robertson of Redland, CA, and Mickey Robertson of Manassas, VA; six grandchildren, Kari Robertson of Manassas, VA, Shawn Pearson and husband Ben of Benbrook, TX, Mark Robertson and wife Wendy of Alvin, TX, Camille Andreas and husband Craig of Menton, CA, Lori Briggs and husband Jeff of Granbury, TX and Bill Hyden and wife Brooke of Houston, TX, Alex, Chase, Garrett and Lexi Robertson, Shana Robertson Gomez of Alvin, TX, Victoria and Aaron Andreas of Mentone, CA, Shelby and Beatrice Biggs of Granbury, TX, Livia Kate Hyden of Round Rock, TS, Brandon, David and Jennie and Laura Posey of Manassas, VA and five great-great grandchildren, Derrick, Jacob, Jayden Gomez of Alvin, TX, Wyatt Brock of Houston, TX and Christopher Posey of Manassas, VA.
