Belen was born in San Antonio August 20, 1931 to the late, Manuel and Juana Galvan. She grew up in San Antonio and attended school there. She was very active in her church and took part in the choir, taught Sunday School and sponsored youth groups. Belen was on the administrative board and served as the secretary.
Belen spent most of her adult life in the banking business. She was with the First National Bank of San Antonio for 18 years where she met Elton Wetz. They married on May 25, 1968 and would enjoy 49 years of a perfect marriage. After moving to the area, she went to work for the Republic National Bank of Dallas and would later retire from the Fort Worth School District where she served at the financial secretary. Belen was a member of the Richland Hills United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Belen and Elton loved to travel. They toured 49 of the 50 states and travelled every inch of Canada by car, making their way from the Pacific Ocean to the tip of Canada at the Atlantic Ocean. Belen and Elton enjoyed Polka music and they followed the Hi-Toppers, a popular German polka dance band from New Braunsfels, to all their dances throughout Texas until the band retired after 39 years of great music.
Belen is survived by her husband, Elton; sons, Jesse G. Rodriguez of San Antonio, Ernest G. Rodriguez and wife, Juanita of Fort Worth; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and cousins.
