WATAUGA — Bertie Lou Rankin Powers, 83, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in Fort Worth.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, at St. Anne’s Church in Lake Worth.
Memorials: The family request that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to St. Anne’s Church, 6055 Azle Ave., Lake Worth, Texas 76135, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Bertie was born March 2, 1929, in Lexington, Ky. She graduated from Henry Clay High School and attended the University of Kentucky. An Air Force wife, she and her husband, Paul R. Powers, were stationed at Air Force bases throughout the U.S. and in Japan.
Her activities included church work at Anglican parishes throughout the U.S and Japan, Red Cross sailing instruction, serving as a docent at Washington Cathedral and girdle testing.
Bertie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Powers.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Paula Powers of Haltom City; her daughter, Patricia Powers of Irving; grandson, Andrew Baris of Denton; brothers, Douglas Rankin of Lexington, Ky., and Thomas Rankin and wife, Alydia, of Summit, Miss.; sister, Patricia Carrier of Lexington, Ky.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.
