Betty Forree, our loving sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend passed away at age 71 on 27 January, 2012 in Granbury.
Funeral service: 10 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, Granbury, TX.
Visitation: 6-9 pm, Friday,February 3, 2012 at Martin’s Funeral Home.
Graveside service 3:30 pm at Bethel Cemetrey in Mason, Texas.
Betty was a 30 year resident of Granbury, an active member of the First United Methodist Church, sang in the church choir, and did church volunteer work. She graduated from Texas Womans University, then went into a 20-year career as a Public Health Nurse in the Army Nurse Corps. In addition to her sever assignments in the United States, she also served in Okinawa and Ethiopia. After retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1981 she designed and built a home on Lake Granbury to share with her mother and grandmother until their deaths. She also worked several years as Nursing Director with the Kennedale ISD, retiring in 2006. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family.
Survivors: brother, Jerry Foree and wife Wali of Austin; nephew, Brian Foree and wife Karen of Austin; niece, Susanne Johnson of Austin; niece Tanya Graw and husband Jeff of Vienna, Austria; and 3 gread nieces/ nephews, Samantha, Sarah and Caleb of Austin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco.
