Beverly Jean (Jones) Thomas went to be with her Lord on September 14, 2018 at 1:19 pm in her home, surrounded by her family.
Service: 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 17, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Lakeside.
Burial: 4 P.M. Monday at Memory Gardens in Weatherford, Texas
She was born in Ft. Worth, Texas May 3rd of (…pause for effect, count on your fingers) 1979. As you know, she was perpetually 39 years old.
Her Daddy and Mother, Burrel and Maurine Jones and she and her brother, Durrel Jones, moved to Weatherford the summer between her freshman and sophomore years in high school. A year after graduation, she married the love of her life, Kenneth “Buck” Thomas. The next 23 months were a whirlwind, as Buck’s job moved them around. Within six months, they were in Freemont, Nebraska. Six months later, they were in Cheyanne, Wyoming. Two months after that was Kansas, two months later, Oklahoma and one month later, they were back to Texas…just in time for their first bundle of joy, Ray. Brian, Michael and DeAnna came in quick succession, with all four being born in six months.
Once they were all grown, Buck and Beverly gave each other a high five, enjoyed the empty nest and built a new house. God led them from Emmanuel Baptist in Weatherford where they had spent so many happy years developing deep friendships to First Baptist Church Lakeside where they met a crazy group of “Senior Teenagers” aka Senagers who were enjoying their lives as they were starting to. They dearly love and enjoyed fellowship with these young at heart through pot luck nights, cruising, and road trips of a lifetime.
Beverly says if she could go back and speak to her younger self, she would say:
“Hold on tight, because God has great things in store. It’s a roller coaster ride, but you can trust God.”
She was preceded in death by her father, Burrel Dean Jones and mother, Maurine Russell Jones both of Weatherford; and a daughter-in-law, Marisa Key Thomas of Saginaw.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth “Buck” Thomas of Weatherford; son, Ray Thomas of Saginaw; son, Brian Thomas of Haltom City; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Angela Thomas of Watauga; daughter and son-in-law, Joe and DeAnna Thomas Jordan of Windsor, Pennsylvania; daughter-in-law, Missy Rawlinson; six grandsons, Drew Thomas, Tal Thomas, Isaiah Breckenridge, Kadin Thomas, Lance Thomas and Wesley Thomas; three granddaughters, Kamika Brown, Megan Thomas and Hailey Thomas; one great-granddaughter, Saya Brown; brother and sister-in-law, Durrel and Cathy Jones; sister in law and friend, Marjorie Lynch sister-at-heart, Wanda Boyles and “second daughter,” Teresa Kiser (pronounced Keizer); nieces, Terry Scrimshire, Nikki Bush, Karen Calloway and Jennifer(Jones) Lewis; nephews, Raymond Scrimshire and David Jones; a number of great nieces, great nephews and cousins, and a list of dear friends too numerous to list.
