Bill Dale Martin

Billy Dale Martin, 69, of Granbury, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in Fort Worth, Texas. On June 5, 1948, Billy was born to Calvin and Emma D. Martin in Slaton, Texas. He married Vicky Vernon on August 23, 1969, in Levelland, Texas, and had two children. Bill was a graduate of Texas Tech University, proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and worked as an electrical engineer for AEP (formerly West Texas Utilities) for over 35 years. He and Vicky retired to Granbury.

Billy enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with his family. He not only loved going to the mountains on vacation but also visited all 50 states and several countries including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Mexico. Billy liked to joke and kid around as well as playing with the kids. He loved to support his children and grandchildren in their activities and was president of the Little League in Stamford, Texas, while his children were playing.

He will be missed by family and friends. Survivors include his wife Vicky Martin; son Mason Martin; daughter Monica Havner; granddaughters Sierra, Tayler and Ryanna Havner; great-grandson Oren Mumm; sister Pauline Elliott and numerous nieces and nephews and many loving relatives. Billy is preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Emma D. Martin and brother-in-law Bert Elliott.

The family will have a celebration of life when the weather improves. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to make a donation to a local veterans’ charity of your choice.
