Bill Smithie of Granbury went to be with the Lord early in the morning on Sunday, May 14, in Houston after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 20 at 10:00 am at Long Creek Baptist Church, where he was a charter member, and was the sound technician. Interment will follow at Long Creek Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to Cancer Care Services of Hood County.The visitation will be held Friday, May 19, 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Wiley Funeral Home.
Bill was born February 26, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas. He married Joanna Monroe on July 6, 1985. He loved his family, his church, cruises, and road trips to the Great Smoky Mountains and Branson, MO.
He served in the U.S. Marines for 6 years. He spent most of his career in the automobile business as a salesman and finance manager at Everett Hooks Ford/Chrysler with a stint in the banking industry as a loan officer.
Bill was an avid music, Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a maniac at Trivial Pursuit, and a borderline fanatic at Fantasy Football. His friendly smile and outgoing personality will be missed by one and all.
Survivors include his wife Joanna, of Granbury; daughters Rhonda Ollivant and husband Tim of Granbury; Robin Radice and husband Mike of Prosper; and son Michael Smithie and wife Joanna Marie of Granbury. Also surviving are grandchildren, Meghan Ollivant of New York City, Lindsey Ollivant of Lubbock, Sofi and Rhett Radice of Prosper, and Gavin and Ben Torrez of Granbury, along with numerous extended family members, and a host of friends.
