Billie “B.J.” Jan Morris

Billie Jan (B.J.) Morris of Glen Rose passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, in Glen Rose.

Funeral service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Happy Trails Cowboy Church. Ronnie Shackelford and J.J. Jennings will officiate. Interment: Squaw Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wiley Funeral Home – Glen Rose Chapel.

Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Morris family suggests contributions in B.J.’s memory to the LDL Foundation or Somervell County Cancer Support.

B.J. was born in Gorman, to John Daniel Morris and Alma Lee Pate Morris on Feb. 23, 1938. He went to school in Comanche and after graduation he served in the U.S. Army.

He married Geneva Ann Hewlett on Sept. 17, 1963, and they made their home in Glen Rose, where they raised their three kids, numerous pets, and 4-H projects. He loved tinkering with old cars in his shop, fishing, reminiscing with old friends, and meeting new ones.

B.J. had a strong work ethic. He did many odd jobs, worked at the local lumberyard, and many years at General Dynamics as a machinist until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Geneva Hewlett Morris; his children, Ginger Reneé Morris Rogers and husband, Darryl, Darryl Wayne Morris and wife, Margaret, and David Alan Morris; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Paulette Morris Cleveland and husband, Dwain; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving church family and friends.
