Billy Carrall Buntin

Bill Buntin, 79 passed away at home on Saturday September 3, 2016 after a long illness.

There will be a celebration of his life at 6:30 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2016 in Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Ave., Lake Worth,76135.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either American Cancer Society or Cook Children’s Hospital of Fort Worth.

Bill led an interesting life. In the late 1950’s to early 1960’s, Bill played stand up bass in a rockabilly band called Johnny Carroll and the Hot Rocks. The band, which was way ahead of its time, never saw huge success, but are now critically acclaimed and considered pioneers in the rockabilly movement. Shortly after leaving the band, Bill joined the Army. Once discharged from the Army, he went to work for Texas Electric Service Company (also known as TXU or ONCOR) as a lineman. He worked for the company for 35 years and then retired. After a brief retirement he went to work for Flowers Construction/Wilbros and worked for them another 22 years before finally retiring in 2015.

Bill’s favorite things to do were fishing, camping, spending time with his family and friends, cooking BBQ, and playing and/or listening to music. He loved being at home and having all of his grandchildren come to see him.

Bill is preceded in death by both of his parents, 4 sisters, and one baby brother.

He is survived by his wife, Jacque Buntin of Springtown; son, Bill Buntin of Cleburne; daughter, Leah Browder of Burleson; stepson, Jeff Huie of Springtown; stepdaughter, Laura Cleveland of Sulphur Springs; and Wade Phariss of Flatwood, who was like a son to Bill. He is also survived by two sisters, LaVohn Bowman and Sharon Garza; six grandchildren, Alicia Moore, Crystal Edins, Russell Martz, Alex Browder, Aaron Browder, and Stormie Buntin; 4 step-grandchildren, Kiley Huie, Maggi Huie, Mason Cleveland, and Micah Cleveland. Bill is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who he loved very much.
