Bobby Jean Morrow Hale passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones January 14. 2020. Bobby was born March 30, 1924 to parents Ollie Leonard and Clara Josephine Grizzle Morrow in Snyder, Texas.
She married the love of her life Clifford Wayne Hale on April 5, 1942 in Gainesville, Florida where Cliff was stationed in the army. They had a double wedding ceremony with best friends Jack and June Staton. They also shared living quarters until Cliff and Jack were shipped off to war.
After the war she and Cliff made their home in Snyder and raised their three children there, Mokey, Cindy and Joe. Bobby was a stay at home mom for almost 17 years and, along with her husband, devoted to their children. They never missed a game, never missed a contest, never missed a play, even acted as chaperones on field trips. Bobby was also very active in PTA for 25 years and was very proud of having been made a Life Member of the PTA.
She was beautiful, kind hearted, and had the sweetest smile. She had a wonderful sense of humor with a repertoire of jokes equal to many comedians. She was known for her wit, always bringing smiles to those around her. She was an excellent cook and set a standard in biscuit making that many tried to match. Her award winning biscuits won first place at the Scurry County Fair. She was very creative and artistic, expressing that in decorating her home, making newsletters, and planning social events.
Bobby worked for the ASCS (Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service) office in Snyder beginning in 1960 and retiring in 1973. During the time she worked for the ASCS, she entered a drawing in the nation-wide emblem contest for NASCO (National Association of ASC County Office Employees) and won first place in Texas and placed fourth nationally.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband and visited Mexico, the Caribbean Isles and Peru and Ecuador in South America. She also enjoyed playing 42 with friends. After Cliff’s retirement, Bobby and Cliff split their time between Snyder, and vacation homes in Ruidoso, NM in the summer and McAllen, TX in the winter, enjoying old and new friends in all three places. In 1993 they gave up the vacation homes as well as their home in Snyder for a new home in DeCordova Bend Estates where they had lifelong old friends and made new friends as well as now being closer to their children and grandchildren. Bobby was active in the DCBE Women’s Club holding different committee chairs over the years. She also joined the Elizabeth Crockett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution where she served several positions.
The Hale family was active in the Eastside Church of Christ during the time they resided in Snyder. After moving to DCBE, Bobby and Cliff joined the Granbury Church of Christ, attending the early service. After Cliff’s death Bobby continued with the Church until her health prevented her attendance.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Cliff and her son Bobby Wayne (Mokey) Hale. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Hale Bray, her son Joe Cliff Hale and his wife Paula, daughter-in-law Nancy Hale and sister-in-law Pat Land. She had seven grandchildren, Michelle Bray, Brent Hale, Bryson Hale (wife Renee), Matthew Adkins (wife Genita), Shane Hickman, Cody Hickman, Kevin Hale, and Billy Troy. And great grandchildren Conlan, Tristan, Landon, Derek, Rhianna, Chase, Tyler, Cassidy, and Michael. And many nieces and nephews. As well as best friends Pat James and Mary Latimer and neighbors Jim and Andrea Bauer.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Mustang Creek Estates in Burleson and Envoy Hospice who gave her such tender care and heartfelt love.
