GRANBURY — Bonnie Lou Lord Britton Fleece, 80, of Granbury passed away November 20, 2012. Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, Wiley Funeral Home, 400 Highway 377 East, Granbury, Texas. Visitation: 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home. Interment: Holly Hills Memorial Park, Granbury, Texas.
Bonnie was born October 4, 1932 daughter of William and Bolene Lord at Arkansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Arkansas City Junior College and after internship at Wesley Hospital at Wichita, KS, she became a Medical Technologist, ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) in 1959. In 1978 she received a Bachelor of Science from Texas Christian University. Microbiology was her specialty for 25 years at Robert L. Thompson Hospital, Carswell Air Force Base, Fort Worth, TX. Then she served as hospital Quality Improvement Director at Carswell AFB and subsequently at Corpus Christi, TX Naval Hospital. She retired in 1995.
The United Methodist Church was an important part of Bonnie’s life. She was an active member of its women’s organizations. She served as the first President of the Fort Worth West District of United Methodist Women and later President of the Weatherford District.
James Floyd Britton and Bonnie were married in 1952, moved to Fort Worth in 1959 and became “Texans”. His death was January 6, 1995.
Charles (Max) Ray Fleece and Bonnie were married in 2003. They enjoyed living in Granbury, TX, happy in their life together.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Sara Ann Lord.
Survivors: Husband Charles Fleece, sons James L. Britton and wife Carolyn, Mark A. Britton and wife Terri, six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, brothers Tom Lord and wife Susan, David Lord and wife Sally, sisters The Reverend Elaine Lord, Lois and husband Al Fox, Jean and husband John Gough, sister-in-law Joan McClaskey, brother-in-law Carl Fleece and wife Veneda and nieces and nephews.
