Jan Taylor

Jan R. Taylor 72, of Glen Rose passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas.  Service: 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 22, 2022, First Baptist Church, Glen Rose, Burial will follow at Ward Branch Cemetery.  Visitation: 4:00 PM -6:00 PM, Saturday, May 21, 2022, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Glen Rose under the direction of Wiley Funeral Home.  The family welcomes flowers but asks those preferring to donate in lieu of flowers to contribute to Papa’s Pantry.

Jan was born to Rev. William and Alleen Rudolph on January 22, 1950 in East Chicago, Indiana. She married her one true love and soulmate, Dwight Taylor on February 23, 1966.  They were blessed to share 56 wonderful years together. She was a loving mother to three sons:  David, Mark, and Shaun.  She loved to brag on each of them and was especially proud of their military service.   Her six grandchildren affectionately knew her as Nana and she loved them dearly. After moving to Texas, Jan was the co-owner and manager of Glen Rose Title Company.  She was active in the community serving as the chairman of the Somervell County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, Glen Rose Athletic Booster Club, and in her sorority.  Jan was an accomplished musician and loved sharing her talents in her church. She had a wonderful love for people and looked for any opportunity to brighten their day with her beautiful smile.  Jan was a talented writer and had written numerous children’s stories, plays, and musical programs as well as organized their productions with the children’s ministry at church. In addition, she wrote a weekly local interest column for the Elk Valley Times in Fayetteville, TN and later with the Glen Rose Reporter.  She had a servant’s heart and dedicated her time serving others.  During their short time in Colorado Springs, she held the position as an SDR Representative with Compassion International and loved to tell people of this mission that was so near and dear to her heart. She served this community as a volunteer at Papa’s Pantry where she was usually found right by Dwight’s side.

Jan is survived by her loving husband, Dwight Taylor; her three sons: David and wife Tracy, Shaun and wife Kendra of Glen Rose, and Mark and wife Candy of Granbury, TX; stepson Jim and wife Jill of Castalian Springs, TN; grandchildren: Zachary, Brett, Brynna, Jacob, Brendon and Brayden Taylor; as well her brothers Jim, Tim and Paul Rudolph.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Rudolph.
