Carlyle Johnson, 70, a strong, humble, and fiercely loved man, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at peace and at home.
Join us to celebrate the life of Carl, Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 4 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1600 Old Decatur Rd. Saginaw, TX 76179.
Carlyle was the oldest son to two hard working and loving parents, Velma and Leroy Johnson (both now deceased), and brother to Maynard Johnson (also now deceased) and to Joel Johnson from Huntsville, Alabama. He grew up on shared farms in South Dakota, spending his free time with beloved cousins, hunting coyotes on quiet and cold prairies.
In 1966, Carl spent his first of several summers at Eagle Lake Camp in Colorado. He had discovered God as a child, but found his soul buried in the Rockies.
Twelve years later he met his wife, Cyndi, when they they traveled to the Philippines with a missionary music group while serving with Campus Crusade for Christ. Here, they fell in love and were married in May of 1980. Thirty-seven years of marriage gave them five children, Chase, Nick, Krisi, Kelsey, and Janae; two daughters-in-law, Stephanie and Victoria; one son-in-law, Colton; and two precious grandsons, Bryce and Travis.
The last text Carl sent:
“Patience is accepting a difficult situation from the Lord without issuing Him an ultimatum to remove it.” – – Bill Gothard
