Cecil F. Johnson Jr., 79, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at his home.

Cecil was born September 10, 1938 in Chickamauga, Georgia to Cecil and Addie Johnson. After graduating high school he went to work for the postal service in Chickamauga. At 24, as an aspiring musician, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee and began a career playing the steel guitar with various musical groups. Because of his musical talents, he was referred to Tammy Wynette and played in her band for a number of years during which time she was awarded the “Female Vocalist of the Year Award”. He later went on to play with Jeannie C. Riley and Little Jimmy Dickens bands. In 1977 Cecil won his first of many “Terry Awards”.
In 1972 he moved to Fort Worth because of the work available for musicians. He later began a 20 year career as an auto salesman with Bill McDavid and Mac Churchill Auto Groups where he won many awards for his salesmanship.
Cecil and his wife, Linda were faithful members of the First Baptist Church of Lakeside where they made many friends.
Survivors: Wife, Linda Johnson; daughter, Pamela Tyler-Kroon; brothers, Ronald Thomas Johnson and William Larry Johnson; sister, Claudette Johnson Morrison; grandchildren, Jillian, William, John Jr., Barbara, Chris, and Wulfgang; great-grandchildren, Addie, Douglas, and Alex.
