GRANBURY — Charles Berle Buchanan, 85, passed away Tuesday, Apr. 17, 2012, in Fort Worth.
Memorial service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, 2012, in the Chapel of First United Methodist Church in Irving, Texas.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or charity of choice.
Mr. Buchanan was born June 28, 1926, in Rising Star, Texas, to William Charles Buchanan and Lillian Elizabeth Bailey Buchanan. Joining at age 17, Charles was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the 6th Rocket Division, 22nd Regiment and participated in the invasion of Guadalcanal. On May 15, 1949, he married Etta Jean Crowson in Irving and they had 3 lovely daughters. Charles owned the Irving Sports Shop, built custom homes and was a rancher. He enjoyed many years as a Boy Scout Leader.
Survivors: Wife of 63 years, Etta Jean Buchanan; daughters, Debora Giddings and husband, Don, Deana Rose, Kelli Haley; grandchildren, Kendel Haley, Elizabeth Boelter, Landi Lamei and husband, Jacob, Conner Lamie; and many loving nieces and nephews.
