Charles Curtis Monroe, 83, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 in Weatherford, Texas.
Charles was born in Granbury, Texas, on March 2, 1937 to Lawrence Earl and Laura Belle Werts Monroe. In his senior year at Bowie High School, he was a star basketball player.
Charles was a good provider for his family and he retired from AT&T after 30 years of service.
Charles was the typical “country boy”. He enjoyed farming and his tractors. He cultivated his own large vegetable garden and he grew and baled hay for his family’s cows and the neighbors’ animals.
He also loved his country music while shelling pecans. But his most prized possessions were his family, especially his grandchildren and his dogs, Lexi Ka and Bud. He also enjoyed spending time with his brothers Glen, Joe and Bo playing dominos and discussing life.
Left behind to cherish his memory, wife Catherine Monroe; children, Carla Watkins, Stacy McDowell and husband, John, Charles Monroe, Lee Monroe and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Candace, Ryann, Jessica, Jerry, Randy, Arlie, Scottie, Colbbie and Zakkerie.
Memorial Service will be Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 2pm at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel in Granbury, Texas.
