Charles Gilbert Steinke Jr., 67, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, April 29, 2012 at Harris Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas with his eternal companion at his side.
Chuck was born May 13, 1944 in Iron Mountain, Michigan to the late Dr. Charles Sr. and Lorraine (LeRoy) Steinke. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1962 and earned a degree in business at Northern Michigan University in 1968. On July 17, 1967, Chuck married his sweetheart Patricia Ann Whisler in Eagle Harbor, Michigan. Raised in Iron Mountain, he made his home for many years in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and recently moved to Granbury, Texas. During his career, he held management positions in manufacturing, retail, and travel businesses. However, he quickly fell in love with the budding computer age and pursued multiple degrees in computer science retiring from IT management in the banking industry.
In his school years Chuck was an accomplished tennis player and enthusiastic skier. He loved the outdoors of Northern Michigan and Wisconsin and enjoyed hunting, fishing, competitive pistol shooting and gardening. He was interested in everything and mostly loved to laugh. In addition to being a devoted husband, father and grandfather, there was not a more dedicated Green Bay Packer fan than Chuck.
In addition to his devoted wife of 45 years, Chuck is survived by his three sons: Charles (LaRissa) Steinke III of Casco, WI; Steven (Autumn) Steinke of Green Bay, WI; and Jeff Steinke of Wichita Falls, TX; his sister Ann (Terry) Fondow of Merrill, WI; his brother Roy (Jane) Steinke of Kingsford, MI; and his beautiful grandchildren: Cassie and Chelsey Berry; Samantha, Jillian and Izzabelle Steinke; and Acelynn Steinke.
