Charles (Charlie) was born May 12, 1941 in Ft. Worth and graduated from Decatur High School. He is a graduate of Decatur Baptist College, now Dallas Baptist College, and attended Howard Payne University, and Baylor School of Law. He played basketball for Decatur Baptist College and Howard Payne University.
After college Charlie embarked on a career in Radio Broadcasting, later owning several radio stations across the state of Texas; Stephenville, TX – KSTV AM/FM, Comanche, TX – KYOX-FM, Amarillo, TX. – KBUY-FM & KTNZ-AM, Granbury, TX – KPIR-AM, and Eastland, TX – KVMX-FM. While owning KSTV-FM in Stephenville he was named to the National Board of Directors of the American Cowboy Ranch Rodeo Association and helped preserve the image and traditions of the ranch cowboy. In Charlie’s spare time he loved putting on and attending ranch rodeo events about the early days.
In the 80’s Charlie helped form Satellite Music Network (SMN) which became ABC Radio Networks, now known as Westwood One. SMN was the first satellite delivered network to provide complete live 24-hour music programming to local radio stations. Charlie was a shrewd businessman. He was a mentor to many of the people who worked for him. He helped open doors that otherwise would have remained closed. He was truly loved by many.
After retiring from the radio industry Charlie started Chuck’s Restorations, specializing in restoring 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevy’s (Best three years Chevy’s ever built). He enjoyed owning and racing horses, playing golf, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and entertaining friends and family
