Charles Latham Dickson passed away peacefully on Friday, August 3, 2012, in Fort Worth.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Western Hills Church of Christ, 8800 Chapin Road, 76116. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Biggers Funeral Home, 6100 Azle Ave., Lake Worth.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to Western Hills Church of Christ Food Bank or any charity of your choice.
Charles was born January 4, 1941, in Waco. He joined the USAF at 17 and was sent to Glasgow AFB, Montana, where he served four years as a fireman. He, his wife and daughter moved to Fort Worth in October 1962, where he worked as a Fort Worth fireman for 12 years. He also worked at Gearheart-Owen, Lockheed Martin and other various jobs.
His background was in electronics, but he also was a wonderful handyman and could fix most anything. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his baby daughter, Dena Lynn.
He is survived by: Wife, Daun Preble Dickson; daughter, DeVaun Barbir and husband, Karim, of Houston; son, Darren and wife, Pat, of Murphy; wonderful grandchildren, Julianna Dickson and Adrian and Marc Barbir; sisters, Dorinda Garrett and Vicky Causey; cousin, Beverly Crawford; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
