Charles Lavon Baughman went to be with his Lord on November 28, 2020 in Granbury, Texas at the age of 75.
Charles “affectionately known as BoBo” is survived by his wife, Janie Reynolds Baughman; children, Scott Baughman of Crowley, Texas, Terri Slemmons and husband Jerry of Granbury, Texas, Jami Hobgood and husband Mark of Haughton, Louisiana; grandchildren, Brooke Walthall and husband David of Amarillo, Texas, Micalyn Stout and husband David of Granbury, Texas, Jake Sherwood and wife Amanda of Georgetown, Texas, Matt Slemmons and Kaley of Granbury, Texas, Dylan Sherwood and wife Hailey of College Station, Texas, Jared Baughman of Burleson, Texas, Megan Hobgood of Natchitoches, Louisiana, and Blake Baughman of Burleson, Texas; Great-grandchildren Landry Walthall, Gracyn Stout and Bowen Walthall; a sister, Carol Sue Jolley of Valley View, Texas. He is preceded in death by parents Frank and Grace Baughman of Lockney, Texas, a sister Donna Heath of Lubbock, Texas, Father and Mother-in-law, Willis and Bernice Reynolds of Lockney, Texas, and a brother-in-law, Jim Reynolds, of Lubbock, Texas.
Charles was born on April 21st, 1945 in Plainview, Texas to Frank and Grace Baughman where he grew up learning the farming business alongside his father. He graduated from Lockney High School then went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Texas Tech University and later earned a master’s degree in banking from Southern Methodist University. After marrying Janie Reynolds, the love of his life, in Lockney, Texas, the couple spent the first years of their marriage stationed at Ft. Greeley near Fairbanks, Alaska, where he served in the U.S. Army before returning to Texas to raise his family. He worked for a time at International Harvester, then at Production Credit Association before spending many years in the banking business where he served as president of First National Bank in Canyon, Texas.
Charles was known for his Christian faith, his love of family and country, strong work ethic, and how much he valued education. He was passionate about his alma-mater, Texas Tech University. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather who dearly loved his family and friends.
A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1st, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Wiley’s Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas. Visitation will be Monday, November 30, 2020 from 6-8pm.
The service will be officiated by Paul Rummage from Lakeside Baptist Church- Granbury. Pallbearers will be his son, Scott Baughman, and his grandsons, Jake Sherwood, Matt Slemmons, Dylan Sherwood, Jared Baughman, and Blake Baughman.
