Charles Leonard Hazel, 89, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 24, 2012.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Biggers Funeral Chapel in Lake Worth. Interment: Azleland Memorial Park in Azle. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Biggers Funeral Home.
Leonard was born on January 16, 1923, in Wilson, Oklahoma, to John and Ludie Hazel. Leonard’s father passed at an early age, so he left school to support his mother and sister. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Leonard owned and operated many companies during his career. His pride and joy was his underground utilities company, which took him throughout the south on major projects.
After retirement, he built many homes in the Azle area. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and win or lose, an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He never met a stranger and will be loved and missed by all.
He is survived by: Daughter, Rita Meredith and husband Dennis of Azle; sons, Johnny Hazel and wife, Gretchen, of Azle, Michael Hazel and wife, Louise, of Llano; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
