GRANBURY — Christine Durant went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Wiley Funeral Home. Burial: Holly Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Durant was born June 23, 1918, in Stephenville, to Charlie Albert “Pat” Carter and Nancy Pendergrass Carter. She married Maxwell G. Durant, Sept. 21, 1957, in Durant, Okla. She lived most of her life in Granbury and was a member of Acton Baptist Church. She worked at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Tx during the time of World War II and worked at the sewing factory in Granbury during the 1960’s. Once her children were grown, she did volunteer work for Granbury Hospital, now Lake Granbury Medical Center. She loved sewing, crocheting, gardening, playing dominoes, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Mary Bassham; brothers and sisters, Beada Harris, Kay Carter, Pearl Crow, Oscar Day Carter, Juanita Busby, Waldeen Beisigl, George Carter, Charlie Albert “Pete” Carter and Ruby Jones.
Survivors: Husband, M.G. Durant; daughter, Christie Hewson and husband, Harvey; son, Windell Durant and wife, Brenda; grandchildren, Johnny Bassham, Debbie McGlynn, Tiffany Hargroves, Bryan Hewson, Samantha Zachary; great grandchildren, Philip Edge, Tristan Hargroves, Teagen Hargroves; brother, Temple Overton Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
