This world will be a little more empty without CJ. As a kid growing up in Lakeside, I always encountered this man with his smile, and genuine interest in me and what might be going on in my life. With CJ, the focus was always on you, not him. He was a devout Christian, tireless volunteer, loving father and husband, a city founder, and most important to me, a dedicated friend to my father and mother. He helped them, as well as his other neighbors. He was an extraordinary conversationalist and so much fun to be around. With CJ you always felt special. As an adult, my relationship with CJ morphed from “neighborhood dad” to my friend as well. He counseled me on changes I needed to make to my parents house when my dad became ill and temporarily immobile. He helped in more ways than I can express. He had amazing empathy for others. CJ, in my book, you were an amazing human being and I feel so lucky to have known you. I just hope those wings have a little maroon in them to go with the white! You’ve earned them and give Helen a hug for me. See ya on the other side someday, I hope. Mark
