Clyde L. Butler, 96, passed away Thursday evening, June 28, 2012.
Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Monday at Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Reno. Rev. Judson Owen and Rev. Shane Scott will officiate. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Biggers Funeral Home.
Clyde Lee Butler was born January 24, 1916, in Campbell and had lived in several Texas towns as a young man.
He married Mary Etta Smith on June 8, 1935; they lived in Fort Worth for several years before settling in Azle in 1993.
Mr. Butler served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a printer by trade and retired from that business in 1981. He had served as a deacon at Azle Avenue Baptist Church and Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Fort Worth. He had been a member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church for almost 20 years.
Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, parents, a brother and a sister.
He is survived by: Daughter, Mary Lamb and husband, Dewey, of Azle; grandchildren, Karen Golden and husband, David, of Allen, Beverly Keith and husband, Brett, of Comanche and Malissa Swofford and husband, Dial, of Montague; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
