Columbus W. “C.W.” Baker Jr., 70, a retired chief boatsman mate, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012.
Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Interment: with full honors, 12:30 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Biggers Funeral Home.
C.W. was born Nov. 3, 1941, in Fort Worth to Columbus W. and Corrine Baker. He was a lifelong area resident and retired in 1983 after 25 years in the U.S. Navy. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the Gamewardens of Vietnam, Texas Chapter.
Survivors includ his wife, Sherrie Baker; son, Richard Baker; stepchildren, Steve Williams, Amanda Stroud and Rachel Nicole Stroud; brothers, John Baker, David Baker and James Baker; sisters, Joyce Baker Pettis and Charlene Vinson; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
