Coyle Ervin Merritt of Granbury, Texas passed away in his home on September 9, 2017 at the age of 86. Ervin was born February 27, 1931 in Motley County, Texas to RJ and Amy Merritt. He is preceded in death by his mother and father as well as his brothers, JD Merritt, his wife Estelline, WB Merritt, and his wife, Glenna.
In grade school at Flomot, TX, Ervin met Allie Onita Martin and fourteen years later they were married on November 2nd, 1950 at White Flat, Texas and they remained devoted to one another for over 66 years.
Ervin is survived by his wife Nita, and his two sons and their spouses, Tommy & Cheryl Merritt, and Steve & Susan Merritt, all of Granbury, Texas. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Aimee & Jacob Hutchings, Kati & Jerimiah Riggins, Amber & Rusty Terrell, Emily & Joseph Morgenstern, Ky & Lee Riggins, Taylor & Lindsey Merritt, and Brandon Bryant. Also surviving Ervin are 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other family and many dear friends.
Following a 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 13, 2017, funeral service at Acton United Methodist Church in Acton, TX, Ervin will rest with friends and family at Flomot Cemetery. Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 14, 2017. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.
