David Edward Strom was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Lowell and Doris Strom on December 26, 1951 and passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Pecan Plantation, Granbury, TX on February 2, 2021.
He and his sister and parents moved from Minneapolis to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and later to Beaverton, Oregon. It was there at Aloha High School his talent and passion for track & field then 10K and marathon races began. Later in life he was proud to have completed running three marathons in eight months’ time including The Boston Marathon at age 40 years. He came in first in his age group there with a time of 2:41.
Dave worked for Delta Air Lines from October, 1972 until January 1, 2004. Those Delta years offered opportunities to work different areas and titles in both reservations and airports; of world travel and most importantly, where he met his wife, Sharron, who also worked for Delta.
When they were both retired, they researched different places to live. Luckily, they found Pecan Plantation in Granbury, Texas. In September of 2005, they moved into their home surrounded by THE most helpful and loving neighbors. He continued to run and bike until his body no longer could.
He was a caring, compassionate, funny, generous and devoted friend and will be greatly missed.
David is survived by his wife Sharron (Pinkie) of 40 years. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Shana Griffin of Houston, TX, his sister Barbara Strom Allen (Dave) of Beaverton, OR, a nephew Mark Allen (Cate) of Wichita, KS, niece Krista Tate of Salem, OR and grandniece Aubrey Roselynn Tate.
Due to COVID at this time, there will be no services and per his request, he will be cremated.
