Delbert Timmerman, 66, of Mingus, Texas, formerly of Glen Rose, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at his home in Mingus, Texas. Services will be on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 10 am at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose, Texas. Family will greet friends from 9 am until service time. Interment will follow at George’s Creek Cemetery.
Delbert was born on March 19, 1954 in Arlington, Texas, son to Molly and Delbert Timmerman. As a teen and young adult, he LOVED to dance and rodeo.
Delbert was a truck driver at heart since he was 19. He always went back to driving a truck (18-wheeler); something about the open road always called to him. He actually started out of necessity as his father D.O. owned feed mills in Walnut Springs and Glen Rose and he hauled feed across Texas.
He became a believer later in life and always told his family he spent his mornings talking to the LORD while having his morning coffee and enjoying all that GOD had created.
Delbert spent numerous hours in retirement working to fundraise for the EOD, Explosive Ordinance Device division of the military. He actually had hosted a benefit (EOD Warrior Foundation fundraiser in Mingus) the weekend before he passed. He became aware of this group when he worked directly with them as a military contractor in Iraq for many years. He was a civilian contractor who supported the military and, by doing so, his country.
He loved to travel, whether it be through Texas on his motorcycle, seeing the sights across this great country, or traveling internationally later in life. He thought this world needed to be seen.
Survived by: daughter and son in law: Amy & Bryan Hinkle; granddaughters: Camryn & Makynna Hinkle; son and daughter in law: Keri & Natalie Timmerman; grandchildren: Addison, Doak, and Brock Timmerman; siblings: Losey Timmerman and Gayla Timmerman, Mellissia Rose and husband Curtis Rose, Molly Hickey; numerous nieces; nephews; cousins and FRIENDS (he never met a stranger).
