GRANBURY — DeLoyce M. “Mama Dee” Wilder, 92, passed peacefully from this life into eternity on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, after a brief illness.
Memorial service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Wiley Funeral Home.
DeLoyce and her twin sister were born on July 29, 1921 in Dallas, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Texas and moved to Pecan Plantation in Granbury in 2007 to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Her vibrant personality led her to be known as Mama Dee to many dear friends in Pecan. For the past year she was a resident at the Courtyards assisted living facility in Granbury and touched many lives there as well.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, her two sons, James Griffin Mays and Donald Griffin Mays; grandson, James Mays II; brother-n-law, Leslie Hackler; husbands, Edwin Griffin in 1944, Charles Shoecraft in 1978, and Orville Wilder in 2007. With so many losses she could have been a sad and bitter person, Instead she was upbeat, vibrant, caring, and supportive of those of us she left behind. She will be dearly missed by all. Rest in Peace dear lady.
Survivors: Former husband, Bill Mays; their daughter, Susan Dee Mays Smith; son-in-law, Herman Smith; twin sister, DeNeyce Hackler and family; grandson, Randy Gheen and family; granddaughter, Staci Jackson and family; grandson, Kenneth Mays and family.
