Dewey Virgil Lamb, 79, retired Baptist minister, passed Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Walnut Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Judson Owen and the Rev. Shane Scott officiating. Interment will be in Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Biggers Funeral Home.
Dewey was born January 25, 1936, in Plainview to the Rev. Carl and Edna Lamb. He was an area resident for 21 years and was a longtime member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church and a Mission Service Corps volunteer for 10 years. In his 35 years in the ministry he pastored churches in Dublin, De Leon, Brownwood, Eastland, and served in Albany for nine years and Abilene for eight years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Butler Lamb; daughters, Karen Golden and husband, David, Beverly Keith and husband, Brett, and Malissa Swofford and husband, Dial; sisters, Carlene Fisher, Sandra Norris, Lucille DuBois; brothers, Garland Lamb, Arthur Lamb, Keith Lamb, Gary Lamb; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
