DECORDOVA — Dick Puritt, 82, longtime mayor of DeCordova, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, in Granbury.
Funeral: 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at Acton United Methodist Church. Burial: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Wiley Funeral Home.
Dick was born Marion Richard Pruitt, April 16, 1932, in Luka Miss., to James Daniel Pruitt and Ida Clearice Qualls Pruitt. He was a graduate of East Texas State University. Dick retired as a Major from the U.S. Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. He flew KC-135’s and also served as a pilot instructor. Dick served as mayor of DeCordova for 14 years and was a member of the DCBE Men’s Golf Association. He was a business entrepreneur with MDP Enterprises. Known as the “pie man”, he loved pecan pies and made up to 500 pies each year as gifts.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Ed, Ruby and David.
Survivors: Wife, Patricia Pruitt; children and spouses, Melanie and Brian Horn, Rick and Julie Pruitt, John and Jesica Pruitt; grandchildren, Austin Horn, Tanner Horn, Madeline Pruitt, Logan Pruitt, Elle Pruitt; and mother of his children, Betty Pruitt.
