GRANBURY — Dorothy M. Garner, 91, of Granbury, passed away July 17, 2012 in Glen Rose after an extended illness. Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 22, 2012 Our Savior Lutheran Church, Granbury. Graveside Service: 2:00 PM, Sunday, Restland Memorial Park, Nashville, Arkansas. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday at Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.
Mrs. Garner was born January 9, 1921 in Stamps, Arkansas to Clyde and Myrtle Swicegood. She graduated from Nashville, Arkansas High School, and was a bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward. Dorothy married Joe Alvis Garner in 1939 in Nashville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in October of 1981. Dorothy was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Granbury, where she served faithfully. She was a devout Christian and made sure her children received a Christian education. She loved board games and taught her grandchildren “how to win”. She was a loving strong willed lady who loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Alvis Garner, her brother William Swicegood, and her sister Luella Golden.
Survivors: Sons, Andrew and Delia Garner, William and Patt Garner; grandchildren and spouses, Cindy and Rainer Widemann, Karen Garner, Theresa and Calvin Musgrove, Dottie Malczewski, Brian and Kie Garner,Karly and Kevin Gaynor, Jeff and Sarah Garner; and 10 great grandchildren.
