GRANBURY — Jean Forister, 76, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, in Fort Worth.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Wiley Funeral Home. Services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Forister was born Oct. 31, 1935, in Foard City, Texas, to Tom and Edith Catherine Weatherall Whitby. She married Thomas Eugene Forister in 1966 in Austin, Texas. She graduated as valdictorian from Crowell High School, graduated from University of North Texas with honors and graduated with honors from University of Texas in Austin with a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi social sorority at the University of North Texas.
Mrs. Forister worked as a counselor at Atascocita High School, Cy Fair High School and Memorial High School, all in Houston, and Ruidoso High School in Ruidoso, N.M. She was the first woman elected to City Council in Crowell, Texas.
Survivors: Husband, Thomas Eugene Forister of Granbury; step-son, Thomas E. Forister, Jr. and wife, Pauline, of Houston; step-daughter, Jill Olson and son-in-law, Robert Olson, granddaughters, Margartet Ann Olson, Meredith Olson; cousin, Patricia Anderson and Helen Zaguirre.
